Oh my gosh, what to say about the outrageous MERRIDETH??!! I mean you’ve seen her antics and heard her sing as you waited in line at most of our locations, and now she’s back in Brookhaven. I’m so happy to have her energy and enthusiasm around. And I’m sure each of you has your own Merrideth story! But in the meantime, let’s here more directly from MERRIDETH ZIESSE!

Why did you agree to perform?

I have been with Souper Jenny for 16 years and one of the greatest parts of that is that it is a home for artists. I love the moments where we come together as a Soup Family and do something to give back- that is my favorite part of Souper Jenny.

What are you most looking forward to?

I always love to see what everyone else is doing. I really enjoy seeing all my friends shine up there and meeting new faces. 

Do you know what you are singing? And if so, why did you choose this song?

I am singing a Sondheim spoof on the “Girl From Ipanema”- called “The Boy From” - it is funny and it accurately depicts much of my dating life in my younger years! I am also singing a duet with Mira and I am super excited about it- it is very ethereal sounding and I love to harmonize.

Funds raised from the cabaret will go and support The Zadie Project. Is there anything about it’s mission that resonates with you?

I LOVE the Zaddie Project!!! I think it is so good to be involved with making sure all people have access to home made healthy food. I love working for a restaurant that gives back to the community. I have donated to the project through my kids theatre MZStageworks, as well. I love to teach others to use their art to give back.

Anything that you want to promote?

I would love to give a shout out to my MZStageworks kids working on FROZEN JR. and performing at Disney this May and also- I am so grateful to Jenny for creating a great environment to work and do good things, and of course my fabulous hubby who supports all the things this crazy theatre/soup girl gets involved in!
