Performer Spotlight: MIRA HIRSCH

Hey everyone, you may know Mira as a director and teacher, but she’s also can SING! Very excited to have her join us on stage for All’s Fair in Love and Soup. Shining the spotlight on MIRA HIRSCH!

Why did you agree to perform?

These days, I'm working mostly as a director and educator, so it's exciting when I get the opportunity to perform. And to share the stage with all of these amazing, talented artists?! I wouldn't miss it!

What are you most looking forward to?

Being with this wonderful group of people.  Sharing songs and stories with an audience in an intimate environment. There's nothing better.

Do you know what you are singing? And if so, why did you choose this song?

I'm singing two songs. The first is Old Friend, from the musical "I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On The Road." I learned this song over 30 years ago, and it's always been one of my favorites. It celebrates friendship in a beautiful way -- even when romantic loves fail you, the love of a friend can pull you through.  The second is a duet I will be singing with Merrideth Ziesse. It's a song called "Take Me As I Am," by the group October Project. I have wanted to perform a song of theirs for...forever! When Merrideth suggested we perform together, I jumped at the chance to do this song. October Project's music to me encapsulates the very definition of "romantic." Perfect for a Valentine's Day cabaret!

Funds raised from the cabaret will go and support The Zadie Project. Do you have any history with the project? Is there anything about it’s mission that resonates with you?

My husband, Keith Yaeger, is the General Manager of Souper Jenny restaurants, so I know a lot about this project. I think it's an AMAZING initiative, and I would do anything to help support it. And, heck, if Keith can do a Souper Walk, trekking over 20 miles around the city to raise money for Zadie, the least I can do is sing a couple of tunes. :-)

Anything that you want to promote? Any artistic endeavors or something to celebrate?

I am directing a couple of shows back to back right now that I'm very excited about. Opening February 7th and running through the 23rd is CAMELOT at The Atlanta Lyric. Then, INDECENT at Theatrical Outfit, running March 7 - 29.  Both shows feature some extraordinary local talent. I urge everyone to come out and see!
