Performer Spotlight: RACHEL MILLER
Our Valentine’s Day cabaret - All’s Fair in Love and Soup is just under a month away and I am so excited to gather some of Atlanta’s best performers. Here’s another spotlight to give you a behind the scenes look as we go into rehearsal. Here’s RACHEL MILLER!
Why did you agree to perform?
There is nothing I would rather be doing on Valentine's day then to perform with such beautiful people for such a good cause. I love it!!
What are you most looking forward to?
I love the energy in the room during such cabarets. It is magical. Everyone leaves uplifted, encouraged, and energized. The power of music is amazing.
Do you know what you are singing? And if so, why did you choose this song?
I am singing ‘The Pina Colada Song’ with my husband, Eric playing the guitar. I came upon this song in searching for love songs that involved food or drink. The story of this song grabbed me. It is actually very romantic in a twisted way. It's a well known party song, but I never paid attention to the story of it before.
Funds raised from the cabaret will go and support The Zadie Project. Is there anything about it’s mission that resonates with you?
I was raised by a single mother and she sometimes struggled to put food on the table. We would not have eaten if it were not for such programs in our life. But I will say the food we received was rarely healthy and it was usually processed. It's sad that the poor can not afford to eat healthy. I love that The Zadie Project is also educating children and families ways to grow and cook their own food, and I know first hand the joy these families will have bringing home delicious AND healthy food.
Anything that you want to promote or celebrate?
Actually, yes! Eric and I will be celebrating 16 years of marriage and 15 years of being involved with Souper Jenny this year.
