Performer Spotlight: DENISE ARRIBAS

I met Denise watching her in the Atlanta theater scene and have always loved her energy. She helped us open the Decatur location and she worked on and off as a server over the years. We would love her to work full-time but she is too busy with her fantastic job at Humorology and her other passions. I am beyond thrilled that she’s able to join us for All’s Fair in Love & Soup! Shining a light on DENISE ARRIBAS!

Why did you agree to perform?

I agreed to perform because it is a way to give back to Jenny who has given so much to Humorology Atlanta and as a bonus I get to perform with my best friend, Craig! Win-Win

What are you most looking forward to?

To be able to celebrate love and play with all this amazing talent while we raise funds for one of my favorite causes.

Do you know what you are singing? And if so, why did you choose this song?

I'll be singing Quizas, Quizas, Quizas because I love the song and I thought bringing some Latina awesomeness would be a good way to spice up the evening. And with Craig, I’m singing Two Lost Souls from the musical “Damn Yankees” because it's a song that celebrates the greatness of finding a friend you can call your soulmate, without being a romantic partner.

Funds raised from the cabaret will go and support The Zadie Project. Is there anything about its mission that resonates with you?

I've dedicated a large part of my adult life to improving the emotional wellbeing of children who needed it most via healthcare clowning through Humorology. When I heard about The Zadie Project I felt compelled to help immediately especially since it aligns so well with what I'm doing in the Children's Hospital. No child can be emotionally healthy on an empty stomach, especially if their hunger could be a sign of an even bigger problem.

Anything that you want to promote? Anything to celebrate?

Absolutely! You can follow me on insta @denisetheawesome, if you want to see pics of all my adventures, my dog and my love for kombucha. And please say “congratulations” to Daniel, my fiancé since he'll be able to marry me soon... lucky duck!
